The weathervane's half round round ridge base, standard in the enchanting terracotta colour, complements roofs of any style. Should your aesthetic inclinations veer towards a different palette, revel in the freedom to select from an array of colours and finishes. Standing at an overall height of 32" (80cm), with a half round ridge base measuring 10" (24cm) in width, 12" (30cm) in length, and 8" (20.5cm) in height, this weathervane epitomises the perfect dimensions for your rooftop adornment.
Why complicate the installation with unnecessary brackets? Fear not, for the boxing hares weathervane simplifies the process. The half round round ridge fitting attaches to your roof using traditional mortar, eliminating the need for additional brackets and ensuring a low hassle installation. Concerns about roof holes vanish with the versatile metal strap accompanying the weathervane. Easily adjustable, this sturdy strap can be cut to size and securely affixed to any part of the roof structure, offering multiple attachment options through its perforated design. Once in place, the traditional mortar bed discreetly conceals the strap, assuring a seamless integration with the ridge base.
Versatility reigns supreme as the boxing hares ridge weathervane graces gable ends, hip ends, houses, cottages, sheds, workshops, and summer houses. Beyond rooftops, this weathervane transcends its functional role and emerges as a charming garden ornament. Installation becomes an art, with myriad possibilities to showcase this captivating piece. Elevate your rooftop aesthetics with a weathervane that not only guides the wind but also adds a touch of enchantment to your surroundings.
Brackets & Fixings
There are various methods for installing weathervane finials:
Traditional mortar bedding
Weathervane finials can be installed using the same process employed for ridge tiles, using standard mortar bedding. If the weathervane finial is tall, heavy, or requires enhanced stability, a supplementary mechanical fixing method can be utilised in conjunction with the mortar bed installation.
Mechanical fixing strap and mortar bedding
In this installation method, a galvanized metal strap is discreetly attached to the underside of the finial ridge base during manufacturing. This durable and flexible metal strap can be adjusted in length by cutting it down. Equipped with a series of holes, the strap can be screwed, nailed, or embedded in mortar to anchor it to a section of the roof structure. After securing the metal strap, installers can hide it from view by applying traditional mortar bed resulting in a seamless and tidy appearance.
Dry fixing
An alternative method for affixing finials to the roof is the dry fixing approach. This technique involves using a specific manufacturer's dry fixing system, typically incorporating brackets or alternative mechanical fasteners to attach ridge tiles and finials to the roof without the use of mortar. If you are considering a dry fix ridge system, please contact us to determine if this weathervane finial design can be adapted to be compatible with your chosen system.
