Introducing the captivating steel boxing hares weathervane, accompanied by a double arch ridge tile for easy fitting and installation. Meticulously forged from robust steel, this weathervane not only serves as a visually striking rooftop ornament but also fulfills a practical role by dynamically indicating wind direction through the graceful rotation of the boxing hares. Elevate your roof's aesthetic appeal with this exceptional and durable finial.
In contrast to traditional bracket installations that often pose concerns regarding water leakage and intricate securing processes, the installation of the boxing hares weathervane is a seamless experience. The accompanying ridge tile effortlessly integrates into the roof using mortar, providing a secure fit. For added flexibility, a mechanical fix fitting in the form of a versatile metal strap is included, allowing installers to customise the size and secure it through screwing, nailing, or fastening to the roof structure. Concealing the strap during ridge base installation with conventional mortar ensures not only stability but also a neat finish.
Delight in the versatility of these boxing hares ridge weathervanes, suitable for installation on gable ends, hip ends, houses, cottages, sheds, workshops, and even within gardens for ornamental purposes. With its unique charm and functional design, this weathervane becomes more than just a rooftop adornment. It becomes a characterful and intriguing statement, enhancing the allure of your entire roofscape. Choose distinction and durability with the steel boxing hares weathervane
Boxing hares in mythology often symbolise a variety of thing, ranging from fertility and the cycle of life to the duality of nature. In Celtic folklore, hares were believed to be shape shifted witches and witnessing two hares engaged in a boxing match was seen as an omen or a manifestation of magical forces. The imagery of boxing hares has also been associated with moon goddesses in various cultures, suggesting a connection between these celestial beings and the mysterious behavior of the hares. Boxing hares are woven into the rich history of mythologies, where they dance between the mundane and the mystical, embodying the enigmatic aspects of the natural world
Brackets & Fixings
There are various methods for installing weathervane finials:
Traditional mortar bedding
Weathervane finials can be installed using the same process employed for ridge tiles, using standard mortar bedding. If the weathervane finial is tall, heavy, or requires enhanced stability, a supplementary mechanical fixing method can be utilised in conjunction with the mortar bed installation.
Mechanical fixing strap and mortar bedding
In this installation method, a galvanized metal strap is discreetly attached to the underside of the finial ridge base during manufacturing. This durable and flexible metal strap can be adjusted in length by cutting it down. Equipped with a series of holes, the strap can be screwed, nailed, or embedded in mortar to anchor it to a section of the roof structure. After securing the metal strap, installers can hide it from view by applying traditional mortar bed resulting in a seamless and tidy appearance.
Dry fixing
An alternative method for affixing finials to the roof is the dry fixing approach. This technique involves using a specific manufacturer's dry fixing system, typically incorporating brackets or alternative mechanical fasteners to attach ridge tiles and finials to the roof without the use of mortar. If you are considering a dry fix ridge system, please contact us to determine if this weathervane finial design can be adapted to be compatible with your chosen system.
