Description

Adorning your rooftop with a touch of maritime charm, the steel pirate ship weathervane embarks on a journey of both form and function, elegantly perched upon a double arch ridge tile fitting. Meticulously forged from steel, this weathervane seamlessly merges as a decorative embellishment and a functioning weathervane that turns in the breeze. A captivating finial ornament graces your roofline, introducing an exceptional piece that not only captivates but also guides with practical precision.

Measuring at a majestic height of 36" (91.5cm), the weathervane proudly stands atop the ridge base, set at a 45 degree angle. The base, with dimensions of 12" (296mm) in length and 9" (225mm) in width, anchors this maritime masterpiece securely to your rooftop.

Choosing this weathervane with its dedicated fitting over a conventional bracket is a deliberate decision driven by the preservation of your roof's integrity. The installation process circumvents the need for intrusive drilling, safeguarding against rainwater infiltration. Installing the pirate ship weathervane is an uncomplicated affair, enhanced by an optional mechanical fix fitting seamlessly integrated into the ridge base. This resilient strap, customisable in size, presents pre drilled holes for versatile fastening methods, be it screws or nails, discreetly concealed beneath traditional mortar.

Versatile in its application, this weathervane complements various roof types, from gable ends and hip ends to houses, cottages, sheds, workshops, and summer houses. Beyond roofs, it extends its allure to gardens, transforming outdoor spaces into visually captivating realms. Elevate your rooftop aesthetics with this exquisite piece, infusing character and intrigue into the very design of your abode.

Brackets & Fixings

There are various methods for installing weathervane finials:

Traditional mortar bedding

Weathervane finials can be installed using the same process employed for ridge tiles, using standard mortar bedding. If the weathervane finial is tall, heavy, or requires enhanced stability, a supplementary mechanical fixing method can be utilised in conjunction with the mortar bed installation.

Mechanical fixing strap and mortar bedding

In this installation method, a galvanized metal strap is discreetly attached to the underside of the finial ridge base during manufacturing. This durable and flexible metal strap can be adjusted in length by cutting it down. Equipped with a series of holes, the strap can be screwed, nailed, or embedded in mortar to anchor it to a section of the roof structure. After securing the metal strap, installers can hide it from view by applying traditional mortar bed resulting in a seamless and tidy appearance.

Dry fixing

An alternative method for affixing finials to the roof is the dry fixing approach. This technique involves using a specific manufacturer's dry fixing system, typically incorporating brackets or alternative mechanical fasteners to attach ridge tiles and finials to the roof without the use of mortar. If you are considering a dry fix ridge system, please contact us to determine if this weathervane finial design can be adapted to be compatible with your chosen system.
