Description
Elevate your rooftop aesthetics with the resplendent spitfire weathervane, an exquisite vane with an enchanting allure, the spitfire rotates gracefully in tandem with the wind, providing a visual indicator of the prevailing breeze. The accompanying ridge tile fitting, available in a terracotta colour imparts a touch of sophistication to your roofline. Other colour options and styles are also available
Standing tall at an impressive 33 inches (82cm), the weathervane boasts a circular ridge base measuring 12 inches (30cm) in diameter and reaching a height of 10 inches (24cm). Its distinctiveness lies not only in its looks but also in its low hassle installation process, ensuring minimal disruption to your roof. Unlike other weathervane installs which involve drilling and bracket attachments, the spitfire weathervane integrates into your roof using mortar via the ridge tile. The round ridge tile also has a metal strap, adjustable to your desired siz and facilitates mechanical fixation. Multiple holes on the strap facilitate easy screwing, nailing, or fixing to various roof structures.
Once the metal strap is secured, concealment with regular mortar ensures a neat and inconspicuous appearance, maintaining the overall aesthetic of your roof. The versatility of the spitfire weathervane extends to compatibility with diverse roof types, including turrets, towers, flat, round, and circular roofs. For those feeling particularly imaginative, its installation on garden structures opens up new realms of creativity. Beyond its visual allure, this weathervane combines beauty with utility, transforming your roof into a captivating masterpiece effortlessly.
Brackets & Fixings
There are various methods for installing weathervane finials:
Traditional mortar bedding
Weathervane finials can be installed using the same process employed for ridge tiles, using standard mortar bedding. If the weathervane finial is tall, heavy, or requires enhanced stability, a supplementary mechanical fixing method can be utilised in conjunction with the mortar bed installation.
Mechanical fixing strap and mortar bedding
In this installation method, a galvanized metal strap is discreetly attached to the underside of the finial ridge base during manufacturing. This durable and flexible metal strap can be adjusted in length by cutting it down. Equipped with a series of holes, the strap can be screwed, nailed, or embedded in mortar to anchor it to a section of the roof structure. After securing the metal strap, installers can hide it from view by applying traditional mortar bed resulting in a seamless and tidy appearance.
Dry fixing
An alternative method for affixing finials to the roof is the dry fixing approach. This technique involves using a specific manufacturer's dry fixing system, typically incorporating brackets or alternative mechanical fasteners to attach ridge tiles and finials to the roof without the use of mortar. If you are considering a dry fix ridge system, please contact us to determine if this weathervane finial design can be adapted to be compatible with your chosen system.
