Description
This captivating steel stag weathervane elegantly adorns a 45 degree double arch ridge tile, seamlessly melding aesthetics with functionality. Forged from robust steel, it not only serves as a striking finial but also imparts a unique charm to the rooftop. Effortlessly responding to the wind, the stag becomes a graceful indicator of its direction.
The default terracotta colour of the ridge tile fitting exudes a classic appeal, though alternate colours and finishes are available to cater to individual preferences. Standing tall at an impressive 40 inches (102cm), the weathervane boasts a ridge base positioned at a 45 degree angle, with dimensions of 12 inches (296mm) in length and 9 inches (225mm) in width.
A paramount consideration in its design is ensuring a watertight seal on the roof. Unlike traditional bracket installations that may compromise integrity, installing this stag weathervane is straightforward. Securely affixed to a double arch ridge tile, it seamlessly integrates into the roof using mortar, eliminating installation complexities. Alternatively, a versatile metal strap offers a mechanical fix option, allowing for secure attachment through screws, nails, or other means, while discreetly concealing itself within the traditionally mortared ridge base.
The versatility of these stag ridge weathervanes extends across various roof types, from gable ends and hip ends to houses, cottages, sheds, workshops, and garden structures like summer houses. Beyond its practical function, this weathervane effortlessly transforms into a garden ornament, gracing outdoor spaces with an enchanting aesthetic. Embrace this exquisite addition to infuse character and fascination into your roofline, creating a perfect avenue for expression.
Brackets & Fixings
There are various methods for installing weathervane finials:
Traditional mortar bedding
Weathervane finials can be installed using the same process employed for ridge tiles, using standard mortar bedding. If the weathervane finial is tall, heavy, or requires enhanced stability, a supplementary mechanical fixing method can be utilised in conjunction with the mortar bed installation.
Mechanical fixing strap and mortar bedding
In this installation method, a galvanized metal strap is discreetly attached to the underside of the finial ridge base during manufacturing. This durable and flexible metal strap can be adjusted in length by cutting it down. Equipped with a series of holes, the strap can be screwed, nailed, or embedded in mortar to anchor it to a section of the roof structure. After securing the metal strap, installers can hide it from view by applying traditional mortar bed resulting in a seamless and tidy appearance.
Dry fixing
An alternative method for affixing finials to the roof is the dry fixing approach. This technique involves using a specific manufacturer's dry fixing system, typically incorporating brackets or alternative mechanical fasteners to attach ridge tiles and finials to the roof without the use of mortar. If you are considering a dry fix ridge system, please contact us to determine if this weathervane finial design can be adapted to be compatible with your chosen system.
