Description
Fitted on a dual arch ridge tile, the steel pheasant weathervane transcends mere functionality, evolving into a captivating rooftop spectacle. Forged from robust steel, this pheasant adornment not only serves as a practical wind indicator but also elevates the aesthetic appeal of any rooftop it graces. As the pheasant weathervane gracefully pirouettes, its movement shows the changing direction of the wind.
Its height is 42" (106cm), the weathervane's ridge base is seyt at a 45 degree angle, measuring 12" (296mm) in length and 9" (225mm) in width. What sets this installation apart from conventional bracket approaches lies in its seamless integration with roofing structures. The concern of compromising the roof's integrity is nullified, as this pheasant weathervane effortlessly melds into the rooftop using mortar. Alternatively, an optional mechanical fix fitting is included, equipped with an array of holes, allows for secure fastening through screwing, nailing, or attachment to a specific section of the roof structure. The metal strap, once secured by installers, discreetly disappears during the ridge base installation.
The installation versatility of these pheasant ridge weathervanes extends across an array of roof types, including gable ends, hip ends, houses, cottages, sheds, workshops, and summer houses. Beyond the realm of rooftops, their adaptability finds expression in garden landscapes, offering an ornamental flourish. With its intricate detailing and captivating allure, this weathervane emerges as a harmonious fusion of form and function, a testament to the seamless marriage of artistry and meteorology.
Brackets & Fixings
There are various methods for installing weathervane finials:
Traditional mortar bedding
Weathervane finials can be installed using the same process employed for ridge tiles, using standard mortar bedding. If the weathervane finial is tall, heavy, or requires enhanced stability, a supplementary mechanical fixing method can be utilised in conjunction with the mortar bed installation.
Mechanical fixing strap and mortar bedding
In this installation method, a galvanized metal strap is discreetly attached to the underside of the finial ridge base during manufacturing. This durable and flexible metal strap can be adjusted in length by cutting it down. Equipped with a series of holes, the strap can be screwed, nailed, or embedded in mortar to anchor it to a section of the roof structure. After securing the metal strap, installers can hide it from view by applying traditional mortar bed resulting in a seamless and tidy appearance.
Dry fixing
An alternative method for affixing finials to the roof is the dry fixing approach. This technique involves using a specific manufacturer's dry fixing system, typically incorporating brackets or alternative mechanical fasteners to attach ridge tiles and finials to the roof without the use of mortar. If you are considering a dry fix ridge system, please contact us to determine if this weathervane finial design can be adapted to be compatible with your chosen system.
